
The taínos were the predominant culture in the Caribbean islands know today as Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, Jamaica and the Bahamas since approximately the year 1200 throughout the 1500 of our era.
YOCAHU, supreme divinity, creator of the sky, the mountains, the fire, the hurricane and the heart of the earch. Yocahú's designs are based on drawings and pictures of the taínos. The designs are created by puertorrican artists and handcrafters. These being the graphic designer José Luis "Chewi" Rodríguez, Juan Carlos Rivera, the handcrafter José "Toño" Fuentes, the handcrafter Francia Montcourt, the handcrafter Reynaldo Fuentes and the sculptor Ramón "Chiqui" Moreno.
